The Southern Highlands Bereavement Care Service has been helping people living in the Highlands, manage their way through the journey of loss and grief for more than thirty years.
With a small grant from NSW Health, the Service has continued serving the community with two part-time Bereavement Counsellors, but with a strong commitment to offer this important service to any who need it - regardless of their financial situation.
Significant losses for an individual such as the loss of a parent, partner or child make up the majority of the bereavement counselling issues brought to Service. But increasingly newer challenges such as navigating the grief journey associated with voluntary assisted dying has added new challenges and stretched the Organisation’s financial capabilities.
In addition, the small committee of volunteers that manages the Service is always on the lookout for anyone who would like to become involved with this work and possess a ‘heart’ for those confronting significant losses.
When Helen's beloved father passes away, she is overtaken by grief and loses herself in memories of their time birding and exploring the natural world together, becoming obsessed with the idea of training her own goshawk. Stars: Claire Foy, Brendan Gleeson
